I know about software and firewall solutions, I am more interested in settings and configuration (for example: altering host files, using block lists, blocking scripts and spyware, etc. ) Please share your experiences and wisdom.

My other computer has windows xp but it is full of spy ware and i dont know why… so i am forced to use my windows 2000 wich sucks… i need a spyware remover to remove all of it so i can use it again.

My laptop freezes afterwards. I can’t even do anything.
I can’t go to All program > run >msconfig to disable it from the batch file. How do i take over my PC from this hijacker.

The spyware guard 2008 keeps popping up on my screen. The computer in question is no longer connected to the internet. I just want play the games but that dam spyware keeps popping up and i want it off of the computer. I don’t see it in the add/remove control panel screen.

For a virus scanner I am using Avira Antivir and I use adaware sometimes for spyware, but my computer has been lagging something terrible lately. Little random things happen, and I know there has to be some spyware or malware on this bad boy. I don’t want a trial thing, or something that scans it and then tells me I have to pay to remove it. I really need some input, please.

I have a proboards forum, one of the members apparently is having problems with a spyware protector virus, at least that’s what she called it. Anyway, is it possible that in posting on the forum, she could unkowingly infect the site, consequently infecting the computers of other members?

I have been using Norton, Webroot Spy Sweeper, and Spy Bot Search and Destroy to try and get rid of the spyware and trojans on my computer but every time I do a scan with all 3 of these programs the spyware and trojans keep coming up. How do I get rid of the spyware and trojans for good? Please help, thank you.
